Harpenden House Hotel is a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian town house with a rich history set in the country Market Town of Harpenden. At the beginning of the 19th Century it was used as a 'School for young ladies' and subsequently it has been a private house and a convent for the Dominican Sisters.

Harpenden House Hotel has been operating as a hotel since 1970 and many of the original period features remain, including a large 18th Century fireplace in the Welcombe lounge. The majority of bedrooms and meeting rooms are adjacent to the main house in the garden courtyard and Hertfordshire wing.

Harpenden House Hotel is undergoing a transformation with an investment in 2007/08 of £2 million. The refurbishment started last spring, seeing the modernisation and updating of the conference and event rooms, The Garden Suite and The Evergreen Room. Most of the main house bedrooms were totally renovated to provide modern comfortable facilities in individual feature character rooms. In July dramatic changes took place in our Georgian Restaurant, Welcombe Lounge and bar areas , which has enhanced their original charm and character, while offering a more modern setting.

We have totally renewed 11 of our Garden Courtyard rooms as executive rooms. The executive rooms are our most spacious and comfortable, and now provide along with our usual high specification facilities, American style king size beds, totally new bathrooms with separate bath & shower.

In late autumn or early spring the grounds are being totally redesigned and lanscaped, and the car park resurfaced, to further enhance the appeal of Harpenden House Hotel. Although our current standard bedrooms are spacious, modern and comfortable, from December 10th to late April, all remaining bedrooms are being refurbished, So Folio Hotels brings change, improvement, and a new feel to this charming hotel.

The hotel is ideally located for access from M25, M1 and A1 and is just 6 miles from Luton Airport and is close to a wide range of attractions, such as Hatfield House, Knebworth House and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park and the town of St. Albans.
