FOLIO HOTELS TO OPEN TOWN HOUSE HOTEL IN LIVERPOOL CENTRE
April 2008
Folio Hotels has started developing a 36 room town house hotel in a former grade II listed bank in the centre of Liverpool.
The Heywoods Building on Brunswick Street, is being developed into a four star hotel at a cost of £3.5 million by Folio Hotels, which operates 35 properties in England and Scotland.
The scheme will incorporate a stylish interior and include a restaurant and bar. The hotel is due to open at the end of the year.
The Heywoods building dates back to 1800 and was originally built as a private bank. After various ownerships it was most recently owned by Barclays Bank before being sold to a developer two years ago.
"We are very excited about this project. Liverpool is a growth city and it is fitting that we shall be opening a new hotel in the year that Liverpool has been recognised as the European Capital of Culture," said Pamela Carvell, marketing director.
Folio Hotels has considerable experience in developing hotels in listed buildings having recently relaunched the Harte & Garter hotel in the centre of Windsor, opposite the castle. Many of the Folio hotels are also located in listed buildings.
