BARNS HOTEL REACHES FOR THE STARS
November 2008
The Barns Hotel, Bedford, part of Folio Hotels, has been awarded its fourth star by the AA.
The upgrade follows a £1.75 million investment in the hotel which is located in three and half acres of landscaped gardens, by the River Ouse. The hotel has 49 bedrooms ranging from standard twin and doubles to suites, many with river or countryside views.
Newly appointed hotel General Manager Diane Thompson paid tribute to her predecessor Kath Webster- Brown who has recently moved to Folio Hotel’s Harpenden House in Bedfordshire, for securing the coveted additional star. "The team has done a tremendous job," she said.
The AA report highlighted hospitality and cleanliness as the 'key strengths' of the hotel. This was reinforced by the recent investment which was rated very highly.
The Barns Hotel derives its name from the Tithe Barn, a timber frame building dating back to the thirteenth century which has been developed into a fantastic function space catering for a maximum capacity of 120 guests. The Barn is very popular for weddings and parties.
Other facilities include three conference suites, free wifi access throughout the hotel, free car parking and access to the local leisure facilities for guests using or visiting the hotel. Guests can also enjoy the fabulous riverside views from the restaurant and terrace.
